Weaving
Create a weaving using yarn, string, rope, and fabric. Your "loom" will be made out of cardboard, with string wrapped around the top and bottom (inserted into grooves every 1 inch), creating the "warp" threads. Using an over-under pattern, weaving your yarn through the warp strings. The horizontal weaving of the yarn is called the "weft". Alternate colors and textures to design an interesting piece, pleasing to the eye. A stick, woven through the top and bottom of your weaving (after being cut off the loom), will help the weaving maintain its shape and make it sturdier.
- Craftsmanship= Warps and wefts are pulled tight and there are no larger gaps, the weaving can hold itself together and is strong. No uneven parts. (40 points)
- Design/Color= Attention and care is shown to the detail and pattern created in the weaving. Colors, texture, and overall design is pleasing, interesting, creative and required planning, skill, and diligence. (40 points)
- Two sticks (or similar reinforcements) have been inserted into the top and bottom of the weaving to strengthen the piece. (20 points)
Total = 100 points
Still Life- White Objects

* Make sure to ONLY use red, yellow, and blue paint, the primary colors, to create all other colors
Total = 50 points
Color Scheme
- Pick a word in block or bubble style font (no more than 5 letters) to repeat in a radial design on a 12"x 12" sheet of paper
- Color your design with a specific color scheme and complete in paint
- Design should be neat, with bold lettering that creates an interesting pattern
- Edges should be clean, lines sharp, and all areas of paint should receive two coats if slightly transparent (don't want to see through to the white paper)

Collage Project
- Find a picture of an animal or person. Print it out, measure to the nearest whole inch, and grid with 1 inch boxes.
- Use a ratio to find a new, larger paper size, for example an 8x10 inch photo can be made into a 16x20 inch project.
- Grid larger paper and redraw image onto the larger size.
- Use magazine clippings to recreate the colors of the image (much like a mosaic). You may either cut or rip the magazines. Make sure to not leave any blank space.
Total = 100 points
Two- Point Perspective Fauvist Style
- Draw the exterior of a city block or equivalent structures using two-point perspective.

- Fauvist inspired color - Use bright, arbitrary colors
- Expressive brushstrokes
- Add texture and shading to all objects.
Altered Book
Find an old book that you can rip apart and use to turn into a piece of art. Find a page you like and make a list of potential words taken from that page that when jumbled together say something different than the author intended. Play with combinations of words/phrases. Develop visual elements and consider positioning, size, contrast, use of space, and if and how to connect the words. Use mixed media to develop your work and emphasize symbolic imagery and texture.. Pieces can be 3-D and include the whole book if desired! Total = 100 points.
