Pendants
- Designs to be worn on a necklace.  Each student creates four.
    Total = 40 points




​Pinch Pots
- Must be balanced, neat, and clean
- Have an expressionistic face that uses additive and subtractive techniques (Applied vs. Incising/Scraffito)
- Have a foot
- Have an even thickness/width throughout
- Be unique!
- Include a hole on the bottom if turning pinch pot into a planter
    Total = 50 points

​Monster Double Pinch Pots
-Overall form: looks good, has a LID, aesthetically pleasing (40 points)
-Added texture (10 points)
-Added feature: something attached, for example wings, arms, legs, tail, etc. (20 points)
-One emphasized feature: eyes, teeth, horns, etc. (10 points)
-Good craftsmanship inside and out: neat and clean, not too thick or thin, STAYS TOGETHER and does not fall apart! (20 points)
   Total = 100 points




​Slab Mug
-At least 4 inches tall. with slabs that are an even consistency (1/4"-1/2") in thickness (10 points)
-Mug is cylindrical, rim is smooth and level (10 points)
-Interior and exterior are smooth and clean, no seams visible! (10 points)
-One creative, decorative element is added (10 points)
-Must have at least 1 handle that is appropriate for the mug's size and weight (10 points)
    Total = 50 points




​3-D Slab Letters
-Must be at least 10 inches in height (20 points)
-Must be freestanding (20 points)
-Must be a readable letter
-Have creative, decorative, and detailed SGRAFFITO designs covering the exterior
-Must be neat and clean!  NO visible seams, englobe applied evenly with attention to detail and brushstrokes
    Total = 100 points




​Group Project- Change & Transformation

-Three  partners, create three interlocking slabs, that can connect and be taken apart like puzzle pieces.  Each slab contains high, medium, and low relief.  The designs across all three slabs should tell a story of "transformation" or "change."  A hole should be put in each slab so that they can be hung.    
​     Total = 100 points 




​Coil Pot
-8" to 12" high (20 points)
-Variety of coils going different directions (20 points)
-Point of emphasis (20 points)
-Non-objects incorporated/decoration (20 points)
-Overall aesthetic, creativity, neatness (20 points)
     Total = 50 points




​Social Issue Project

After researching social issues in the library as a class, choose one topic you feel passionately about.  You will create a sculpture which represents the social issue you chose, that communicates not only the topic, but also your feelings and stance on the issue.  No size requirement, but piece should be sculptural and n-dimensional.  Carving text onto the piece is acceptable.  
​- The completed sculpture is worth 80 points, comprising of craftsmanship, creativity, effective portrayal of the social issue, AND the artist's feelings towards the topic.  (80 points)
- Upon completion of the sculpture, a Self-Evaluation must also be turned in to receive a final grade on this project.  A thoughtful and detail Self-Evaluation will be worth 20 points.  (20 points)
​     Total = 100 points.

​6 Inch Cylinder on the Wheel with Trimmed Foot
- Create a 6 inch cylinder on the wheel.  Be wary of leaving the walls too thick or thin, as well as on the bottom.  Be sure to trim a clean foot, on the wheel, once the cylinder is leather hard.  Fire and glaze your piece.
​     Total = 100 points




​Luminary
- Form must be at least 6" in height
- Can be cube pyramid, or any other geometric shape (made on the wheel or by hand)
- If cylindrical, can't be straight up and down
​- Variety of openings that create an interesting pattern and is at least 40% carved out
- Creative form, 3-D, stays together, looks neat, good proportions, carvings go with the form
- Glazed
     Total = 50 points 




Combined Sculpture
Inspired by artist Paul Soldner, create a sculpture that...
​- Has 3 wheel thrown elements
- 2 hand building elements elements (ex: coil, pinch, slab)
- 10-12 inches in height
- 3-D and viewable from all sides
- Freestanding and be able to be moved
- Well-constructed, stays in one piece
*DUE GLAZED BEFORE SPRING BREAK
     Total = 100 points
     Glazed Grade = 30 points





​Whistle
- Whistle must work
- Must have forms applied to it
- Have texture
- Must stay together and be well crafted
- Be neat and clean
- Be creative and show detail
- Be in the FORM OF AN ANIMAL : )

     Total = 100 points

​Bobble Head

Create a bobble head, around 6 inches tall, of a cartoon character, person, or figure.
- Must BOBBLE back and forth well, be correctly constructed
- Be able to stand and not fall apart
- CREATIVE, original idea for the subject/character
- Be neat and clea
- Show time spent, detail, texture, and quality craftsmanship
​     Total = 100 points




Final CLAY Project + Paper Report
Choose a vessel or container from a B.C.E. culture.  Find out what it was used for, where it came from, and the approximate date.  Create your own version of this piece of pottery (in clay), making sure to include some similarities to the original, but also some differences to make it modern, updated, and your "own" piece.  Check the document below for more guidelines and details regarding the paper write-up and due dates...
