ART 1
1) Draw a self-portrait, in any media, from any pose or angle. Fill in the background with a "Zendoodle," completed in ink.
2) Begin creating your own Weebly site to display your artwork and share a little bit about yourself. Specific guidelines are listed in Canvas under "Assignments." Be sure to submit the link to your website on Canvas so that I can see your work so far.
3) For this week's CC, you will continuing to work on your website. You will be focusing on your "HOME" page and your "INSPIRATION" page. Please check Canvas for full directions!
4) Draw the offspring of two (or more) improbable animals. Be detailed and show texture.
5) Draw something inspired by a specific song. This does not need to be literal. Use the WHOLE page and add color!

7) Color in your monster created from the Exquisite Corpse Game. Use three medias.
8) Find a photo from the internet, a magazine, newspaper, etc. Cut off part of the photo, and glue the remaining portion into your sketchbook. Remake the rest of the photo (different from the original) as an extension of it. Be creative and unique- the weirder the better!
9) Create something new out of the child's artwork given to you. Add to their design! Use Basquiat as inspiration.
10) During class this week, we will be going to visit the Art 2's art show, "To the Windows, To the Wall." After visiting the show, create a blog post about it on your Weebly, on the "BLOG" page. Please write a paragraph review about the show (what it was, describe it, and tell us your about your experience, thoughts and opinions). In addition, please include 3-5 images in your post of pictures that you took on your phone while visiting the show. Remember to hit the PUBLISH button, then submit the link to your Weebly to me in this assignment, so that I can read your blog.
11) Create your own themed alphabet font. Draw out every letter from A through Z, no smaller than 2"x 2" in size (per letter). There should be a theme that unifies all the letters together, such as sports, dogs, or musical instruments, etc. Complete your alphabet using pen or color, no plain pencil please.
12) Using the camera on your phone, take a picture of a scene from real life that shows one point perspective. In your sketchbook, do a drawing of the photo. Make sure to start with a horizon line (your eye level) and a vanishing point. No color necessary. On Friday you will need to show me the photo on your phone AND the sketch to get full credit.
13) Recreate the "Mona Lisa." Modernize it! Change the background as well. Complete in either ink or using color.
14) Create two "Affirmation Cards" on 6"x6" pieces of paper. Decorate them in color, and make sure the affirmations are positive, encouraging, and specific to you!
15) Recreate/Modernize Grant Wood's, "American Gothic". Be sure to include a background. On the back, write 10 bullet point notes on facts you looked up about the artist or artwork.
16) Make something interesting/cool out of a brown paper bag.
17) On Monday we will go visit the photography class's show in the school's art gallery. While at the show, pick your top three favorite photos. Take a photo of each and record the title and who the photographer was. On your Weebly, please make an entry under your "Blog" page, reviewing the photography show. Post the photos of your top three favorites, and write a small paragraph about each, explaining why you like each one and why they stood out to you. Please make sure to hit the PUBLISH button, then copy the link to your Weebly and submit it in this assignment on Canvas by Friday.

ART 2

11) Draw a continuous line drawing. This means your drawing utensil never lifts off the page throughout the WHOLE drawing. The subject is your choice, but the image must take up at least half the page. The finished product should be in pen/ink, but you might want to experiment first with pencil and go over it with ink.

14) Complete handout given in class. Write/draw answers to all questions in your sketchbook please.
5) Create a "Ceramics Crossword Puzzle". You may work with a partner but no more than 2 partners total in a group. Make 10 clues/questions for ACROSS words, and 10 more for DOWN words. Your clues/questions should be challenging but not impossible, and should make use of your Ceramics Vocabulary and all the methods, materials, and processes we use in the room. Leave the answer boxes blank, and on the back side list the answers to each number.
6) Copy the wheel cheat sheet into your sketchbook.
7) Divide a page up in your sketchbook into fours. Draw four sketches of possible ways to design your new Surrealism project.
8) Create and make a design that could be printed on a t-shirt for Ceramics! Designs should creatively represent and support Mira Costa Ceramics and Sculpture. Top designs will actually be made into a shirt available for purchase. Please complete this on a separate sheet of paper you can submit to me, NOT in your sketchbook.
9) Watch the two short (5-8 minute) videos linked below. For each one, take ten notes of tips you learned from the video. These can be in bullet/list form. In total, you will end up with 20 bullet points. Please watch the one on top first, then the second one. This will help you with centering, I promise!

10) Copy the forms packet (cones, cubes, spheres, and cylinders) into your sketchbook. Include every object, and the writing, on all four pages. Do not draw the objects any smaller than they are on the handout.
11) Copy Tea Bowl Shapes into your sketchbook. Handouts are in class. Make sure to include labels and do all three pages.
12) Read and highlight the tea ceremony article. Write 5 down five key points from the article that you feel are the most important and summative. In addition, make a list of things we as a class could make or do to create our own tea ceremony.

19) Read and highlight article on African masks. Write 20 bullet notes in your sketchbook. Create 4 ideas for masks your could make that have meaning for you.
